Sorry about the poor image quality first of all, my phone camera's been unhappy lately. Anyways, great progress has been made on this project over the past week! I finally got my background values darker and I even began using white for my details. I really enjoyed painting the tulle and the ballerina using small white lines and dots to imply form. it was a cool puzzle to solve. Hopefully, Monday of next week I will be able to start using color and glazing.

The most frustrating thing to paint this week were the nail polish containers. Sure, they're cubes, but they're clear glass with a small trapezoid of color in the middle. My brain struggled to properly process how that could be translated into a 2D image. Also, while using white paint to lighten up some parts of the music box, I was a bit frustrated by its slight cool undertone. It'll be fine though, it will be glazed over with a warm beige-cream color in the coming days, so it doesn't matter.

I hope the painting at least vaguely feels unsettling to outside viewers. I'm not sure how well that feeling is coming across right now. I will be brainstorming to see how it can better be conveyed.
